3D RELIEF CARVING

Artist created model of a Labrador Retriever.

A 3D relief carving (also known as a 2.5D carving) is a method that requires an artist to create a computer generated model of an image.  The model is then carved into the material that has been selected for a project.

Often used on dimensional signage or to decorate boxes/chests, 3D relief carvings provide a unique depth which can really make a project special.

In this example, the Labrador Retriever model is raised above the flat surface of the sign.   This sign was created using Western Red Cedar and the V-carve and 3D Relief techniques.
